General Motors celebrated the first 30 years of operations at its Toluca Regional Engineering Center. Launched in 1995, this center handles the development and validation of more than 5,000 components each year for the vehicles of the various brands that make up the group.
Over the years, this center in the capital of Mexico State has become synonymous with excellence in automotive engineering. To date, it has a staff of more than 700 engineering professionals who conceptualize, design, and validate automotive solutions.
The internal objective is clear: to use the latest generation equipment available to guarantee the integration of the components that are installed in the units that will be sold.
“The team at the Toluca Regional Engineering Center has been instrumental in the global development of General Motors vehicles, reflecting the extraordinary contribution of Mexican talent. After 30 years of constant innovation, it has established itself as a pillar of excellence in automotive design. We are deeply proud of our legacy and are committed to continuing to drive the future of mobility through advanced technology and innovative design,” said José Elías Ruede, director of the Toluca Regional Engineering Center at General Motors de México.
A noteworthy fact that has occurred within this complex in Toluca is that more than 200 patented inventions have been generated over the last decade.
The Toluca Regional Engineering Center has specialized laboratories for materials analysis, structural physical testing, evaluation of interior, thermal, and electrical systems, emissions analysis, and noise measurement.
It should also be noted that the center’s staff has played an important role in the development of internal combustion and electric vehicles such as the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Corvette; the Buick Enclave; GMC HUMMER EV and Cadillac OPTIQ.
