Mexico reaches more than 20 million air passengers in the first two months of 2025

Secretary of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora reported that 20 million 83 thousand passengers were transported on domestic and international flights to or from Mexico during the first two months of this year.

Growth in Domestic Air Traffic

According to data from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), the Secretary of Tourism (Sectur) reported that, of the total number of passengers transported during the first two months of 2025, 9.56 million traveled on domestic flights, reflecting growth in air traffic within the country.

He specified that this represents a 3.9 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024 and 26.1 percent more than in 2019.

He also added that, on domestic flights, the airlines with the highest passenger flow in January and February 2025 were Viva Aerobus and Volaris, with 6,932,000 passengers, 6 percent more than last year and 84.4 percent more than in 2019.

Furthermore, Rodríguez Zamora reported that 10,526,000 passengers were transported on international flights in the first two months of 2025, 2.3 percent more than the same period in 2024 and 29.9 percent more than in 2019.

He reported that the main Mexican airlines that transported passengers on international flights were Aeroméxico and Volaris, with 2,268,000 passengers during that period. Four percent more than last year and 45.2 percent more than in 2019.

Likewise, the US airlines with the highest passenger flow were American Airlines and United Airlines, with a total of 2,246,000 passengers.

Josefina Rodríguez Zamora emphasized that these results for the first two months are “excellent” and highlighted their importance as a key element in continuing to attract more tourists to Mexico, as well as investments and international events that drive the growth of this activity.
