Transport Workers Threaten Valley of Mexico with Shutdown: Demanding End to Alleged Persecution”

A massive transport workers’ march, scheduled for this Wednesday, threatens to bring traffic chaos to various parts of the Valley of Mexico as protesters demand an end to alleged fabrication of crimes and political persecution by the municipal government of Tlalnepantla de Baz.

The demonstration, organized by the Association of Transporters, Merchants, and Associates in the State of Mexico (ACME), will see transport workers marching from six locations across the region, with the goal of reaching the capital’s Zócalo. The rally is expected to cause significant disruptions on major roads, including Paseo de la Reforma, the Northern Ring Road, Mario Colín Avenue, and the Lázaro Cárdenas Central Axis.

The protest route will take transport workers along the State of Mexico’s Outer Ring Road toward Felipe Ángeles Airport, potentially affecting several highways, including the Mexico-Toluca Highway, Mexico-Querétaro Highway, and Mexico-Puebla Highway. The demonstration is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. from six separate starting points.

Transport workers claim to be victims of fabrication of crimes and political persecution by the municipal government of Tlalnepantla de Baz, which they accuse of targeting members of their group. In a statement addressed to President Claudia Sheinbaum and Governor Delfina Gómez, the transport workers called for intervention from both federal and state governments to stop the alleged persecution and fabrication of crimes by the state prosecutor’s office.

The protest is a clear warning that traffic chaos may be imminent in several parts of the Valley of Mexico. Motorists are advised to plan their routes carefully and expect significant delays as the demonstration unfolds. The outcome of the protest remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: transport workers will not back down until their demands for an end to alleged persecution are met.
