Recently, El Siglo de Durango announced the indefinite suspension of the regularization of “chocolatos” (chocolato-type vehicles), a measure implemented by the state Public Security Secretariat due to a restructuring of the accounts of the Mexican National Customs Agency, which has affected the operation of the Public Vehicle Registry (REPUVE) system.
This temporary suspension, which began last Thursday, April 10, and will remain in effect until further notice from federal authorities, would apply to other states where this procedure can be carried out. During this period, the regularization modules will remain inactive.
Will the cost of regularization increase?
After the temporary pause in the regularization of “chocolatos” (chocolato-type vehicles) activities in Durango was announced, the question arose as to whether the cost of the procedure would increase when the service is resumed.
So far, authorities have not issued any information regarding an increase in the price of regularizing foreign vehicles, so it is expected to remain at 2,500 pesos, a price that has been in place for some time.
What are the requirements?
To complete the procedure, the following documentation must be presented:
Document proving vehicle ownership.
Valid official identification.
Proof of residence not older than three months.
Statement under oath of truth.
Proof of regularization payment.
Printed appointment from the Public Vehicle Registry (Repuve)
Vehicle Identification Number.
Additionally, it is important to remember that according to the regularization decree, only vehicles from five years ago may be imported, so it will not apply to recent models.
