A roadblock was reported on the old Mexico-Querétaro highway, near the community of La Colmena, in the municipality of Tepeji del Río. Around 11:00 a.m., two families placed two vehicles on the road to force the municipal government to intervene. They claim they were left without access to their properties due to roadwork.
The protesters explained that since they had already met with the local deputy delegate but were not satisfied with the explanations and proposals they received, they decided to carry out the blockade in the hopes of a prompt solution from the mayor.
Meanwhile, the municipal government was holding an event at the municipal garden, where the mayor gave the starting signal for the “Holy Week Security 2025” security operation. This year, the operation is being carried out only by municipal police personnel. Therefore, the complaints have not been addressed, and this closure seriously affects road traffic.
Residents of La Colmena, Santiago Tlahutla, La Cañada, Miraflores, among others, are directly affected as they cannot travel to Tepeji and those traveling to Jilotepec in the State of Mexico or join the Mexico-Querétaro highway.
