The city of Guanajuato never ceases to amaze, not only for its architectural beauty and cultural richness, but also for its nature. A section of the highway that runs from Silao to Guanajuato City suddenly becomes a place straight out of a spring postcard.
A field filled with flowers distracts the gaze of motorists traveling toward Guanajuato. On the side of the road, a vast field of crops bursts with colorful flowers, hues reminiscent of spring, Good Friday, and Holy Week.
It’s spring, and the fields around Guanajuato display various shades of violet, pink, and whitish. As the holy days approach, they are cut and sold to adorn the altars of the Virgin of Sorrows in the churches of Guanajuato City.
Every year, farmers wake up early to water the thousands of wallflowers that will soon adorn the streets and altars of Holy Week in Guanajuato City.
