The governor of the state of San Luis Potosí, José Ricardo Gallardo Cardona, spoke out this Wednesday regarding the controversy his administration was embroiled in yesterday, after a video surfaced on social media showing a naked woman briefly leaning out from a balcony of the Government Palace.
In statements to the media, the governor hinted that this could be a “ghost issue,” as he claimed it was an empty room: “These are issues… wow, I couldn’t really tell you. I don’t like to believe in ghosts, but it’s a room that’s empty.”
In this regard, Gallardo Cardona invited the press to visit the location. Reporters told him that an official in his administration had told them that at that time, a training session for the Chief Officer’s Office was being held there. The governor confirmed this information, but he continued to insist that that wing of the building was empty.
“Yes, the entire Chief Officer’s Office was working, but in reality, that room was empty. It’s a room alone, it’s a hallway that, indeed… that’s where the silhouette of Benito Juárez and Carlota, the Empress who came to ask Maximilian’s forgiveness, is. The truth is, we’re surprised.”
In the video, recorded from outside the building, this person can be seen briefly appearing on the aforementioned balcony, before quickly reentering the office.
This occurred while outside the legislative palace, teachers belonging to Section 26 of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE) were demonstrating to demand payment of labor benefits that, they claim, have been owed to them for months.
Although the appearance of this person caused mockery and confusion, it did not disrupt the demonstration, which continued peacefully and without major incidents. Meanwhile, the footage on social media, shared by journalist Héctor de Mauleon, generated a series of negative reactions, questioning the state administration for allowing this to happen in government buildings.
