The 2025 Municipal Facade Painting Program seeks not only to improve the urban image but also to strengthen the sense of identity, pride, and belonging among San Miguel residents. During the first phase of the project, carried out from April 1 to 11, 27 facades of homes and businesses located on Umarán, Zacateros, Hospicio, and Chiquitos streets were renovated.
The project is part of a comprehensive urban maintenance and conservation effort that, in addition to addressing aesthetics, aims to maintain the buildings in the Historic Center, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2008, in optimal condition. These actions preserve the architectural environment that has positioned San Miguel de Allende as one of the most beautiful and visited cities in the world.
Work will continue starting April 28th, with a new phase that will cover Umarán, Zacateros, Hospicio, Sollano, and Recreo streets, adding more facades to this visual renovation and heritage conservation effort.
The program is being implemented in close coordination with the property owners, who have demonstrated active participation and a willingness to collaborate in this collective improvement. The municipal government recognizes this civic co-responsibility as a key pillar in building an orderly, harmonious city with a sustainable tourism vision.
In addition to enhancing the visual quality of the urban environment, the program seeks to enhance the experience of those who visit San Miguel, providing a curated and authentic environment that reinforces its position as a world-class cultural destination.
