An increase in measles cases in Mexico was reported on April 15, 2025. Chihuahua leads the national infection rate, and a state on the Yucatan Peninsula is among those with confirmed cases of the disease.
Health authorities announced this increase, indicating a total of 362 confirmed measles cases as of yesterday, April 14. They also detailed that Chihuahua accounts for three-quarters of the total, with 347 infected people.
In addition, they mentioned that Campeche, Sonora, and Oaxaca have reported isolated cases, while Querétaro, Sinaloa, and Zacatecas have already reported a confirmed case, which they attribute to the movement of people to areas with larger measles outbreaks in Mexico.
On the other hand, they reported that containment plans have begun in the areas where cases of the disease have been reported, as well as in the surrounding areas where infections are occurring.

According to health authorities, they indicated that the vast majority of the 347 measles cases in Mexico are due to people who are not vaccinated against the highly contagious disease.

Finally, they indicated that the first death from measles in Mexico has been recorded. It occurred in Chihuahua and involved a 31-year-old man from Ciudad Juárez who allegedly had uncontrolled diabetes.
