Black people populate the streets of Las Torres in the Silent Procession of Holy Wednesday

2

Like every Holy Wednesday, gravity, feeling, seriousness, and solemnity filled the streets of Las Torres de Cotillas with the Procession of Silence. A parade that has been going on for more than 60 years and, as tradition dictates, was dyed black with the robes of the Nazarenes of the Brotherhood of the Most Holy Christ Crucified.

Departing from the parish of Nuestra Señora de la Salceda, the “blacks” and their Crucified Christ—accompanied by dozens of penitents—met at the doors of the church to the chants of the auroros bell of the Virgen del Rosario Torreña.

The parade was accompanied by the rhythm of the Brotherhood’s band and presided over by the president of the Superior Council of Brotherhoods, Ángeles Sola, supported by the Nazarene of the Year, Antonio Molina. In addition, municipal officials attended, among others, including government councilors Francisco José Torres, Francisco Juan Giménez, and Amalia Pérez.
