The sun of Mexico shines once again in Hidalgo. Singer Luis Miguel surprised his fans with an exclusive commercial for a renowned tequila brand. The best news is for the people of Hidalgo, as the King chose as the location for filming this 59-second clip none other than one of the state’s majestic haciendas.
This video, combining sepia tones with black and white, is already circulating on social media, showing not only our favorite Mexican singer in his best angles, but also showcasing the unique architecture and dreamy landscapes of the state of Hidalgo.
Which hacienda did Luis Miguel film the commercial at?

It is the imposing Hacienda Zotoluca, located in the municipality of Apan, best known for being part of the Pulquera Plateau region and its maguey fields. These, incidentally, also play an important role in the filming of this commercial and blend with the glamour of Luis Miguel.
Combining the singer’s elegance with the hacienda’s perfect architecture and the unparalleled taste of tequila, this commercial raises the bar for Mexican production, clearly showcasing its campaign slogan, “The Luxury of Flavor.” It will undoubtedly catapult the company into the national and international spotlight.
In the commercial’s images, Luis Miguel is seen wearing his classic black suit. With the elegance that characterizes him, he walks through the halls of the Hidalgo hacienda. In some shots, he appears alongside an imposing black horse; in others, he stands next to a balcony admiring the landscape, holding a glass of tequila. Finally, he is seen walking among barrels of this distillate, closing the commercial with El Sol signing one of the barrels and his voiceover saying:
“When you put your heart into everything you do, you create a legacy that lives forever.” The scenes of Luis Miguel are interspersed with images that reveal the majesty of the hacienda and the maguey fields; as well as images of the bottled product Tequila Don Ramón.
Other artists captivated by Hacienda Zotoluca
This architectural gem in Apan has been the setting for multiple productions and visits by national and international artists. To name a few, Carlos Rivera and his wife Cynthia Rodríguez visited this hacienda and even had their hats personalized in a workshop on the site. The event also features the religious wedding of Eduardo Capetillo and Biby Gaytán’s daughter, Alejandra Capetillo, at this same hacienda, scheduled for May 24.
The history of Hacienda Zotoluca
The first record of the construction of this majestic Hidalgo hacienda dates back to 1570, by order of Viceroy Don Luis de Velazco y Ruíz Alarcón. Upon his death, he inherited the estate to his son, also Viceroy of New Spain, Don Luis de Velazco y Castilla, who bequeathed it to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Mexico City, which used it for over 150 years. When Benito Juárez assumed the presidency, he carried out the secularization of the clergy, expropriated church properties, and thus Hacienda Zotoluca returned to private ownership.

In the late 1800s and early 1900s, Hacienda Zotoluca underwent an architectural intervention by architect Antonio Rivas Mercado. Among his most important works is the Independence Monument on Paseo de la Reforma, Mexico City. During the 1910 revolution, the haciendas were brutally attacked, invaded, destroyed, and looted.
In 2015, the hacienda was acquired by Julio Uribe Curn. In 2019, it won the “Icons of Design” award from Architectural Digest Mexico magazine. In 2023, it began an exclusive business relationship with the Four Seasons Hotel in Mexico City, with whom it currently operates an exchange for tourist services and experiences offered by the hacienda.
The hacienda offers 25 exclusive rooms, each with privileged views of the imposing volcanoes or the gardens. According to the site, “each room has been meticulously designed to combine antique style with contemporary sophistication, ensuring a relaxing stay.”
