Dozens of beachgoers and vacationers are enjoying the final days of Holy Week to the fullest. Dozens are packing the main beach destinations and hot springs in Oaxaca this Holy Saturday. In Huatulco and Puerto Escondido, hotel occupancy is reported at 99% capacity, while in resorts like Ojo de Agua, the influx of visitors exceeds 5,000 on this day alone.
On the Oaxacan coast, the bays of Santa Cruz, La Entrega, Maguey, Punta Zicatela, and Carrizalillo are the most sought after by national and international tourists, boosting local economic activity and achieving 99% hotel occupancy.
Originally from Tlacolula de Matamoros, Nancy Martínez and her family traveled 230 kilometers to enjoy the spring known as the “Ojo de Agua,” where they enjoy the water, nature, and snacks like tlayudas, garnachas, and corn atole.
“We like to come here every year. It’s very beautiful, the water is clean, it’s very peaceful, the prices are affordable, and the food is just as good.”
Oaxacan destinations like the “Ojo de Agua” have become very popular among national and local visitors, primarily for maintaining their natural surroundings and the cleanliness of their waters.
Felix Sabino explained to Milenio that they started their vacation in Puerto Escondido, then visited some bays in Huatulco and then reached the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, where the “Ojo de Agua” in Magdalena Tlacotepec is a must-see.
“Undoubtedly, it’s highly recommended to close out such a beautiful holiday period as Holy Week here, and what better way to spend it than with family.”
Although Holy Week is about to end, the number of visitors is expected to increase this weekend. Therefore, it is recommended to take extreme precautionary measures, such as: not traveling while tired, designating someone to drive if you consume alcoholic beverages, and, if visiting a beach or resort, keeping an eye on children to avoid any tragedy.
