The news that Katy Perry’s Mexican fans didn’t want to hear has come true. The singer’s concerts scheduled for May 2 and 3 at the Guadalajara Arena have been canceled. The promoter of The Lifetimes Tour in Mexico confirmed this in a statement, explaining the reasons for this decision.

Katy Perry will perform in Mexico this week

Through the company’s social media, it has been detailed that Katy’s two concerts were not the only ones canceled. Carlos Rivera was supposed to be the one to inaugurate the arena. However, due to delays in the venue’s construction, the plans will not be carried out. “Due to the fact that the construction of the Guadalajara Arena will not be completed to meet safety and comfort standards for the public and our artists on schedule, Zignia Live informs that the concerts of Carlos Rivera (April 25, 2025), Intocable (April 26), and Katy Perry (May 1 and 2) will be canceled. The cancellation of these concerts is beyond the artists’ control; we deeply appreciate their support and understanding.”

How can I request a refund?

Similarly, it has been reported that for the three concerts, most refunds will be issued automatically if the purchase was made through the ticketing website. If you purchased your tickets at the box office, in stores, or at other points of sale, you must send an email, starting April 22, to [email protected] with the following information: Your official identification (INE or passport), a clear image of your tickets, and the subject line of the email must be “ARENA GDL REFUNDS.”

Katy Perry Regrets Missing Out on Performing in Guadalajara

After the bad news broke, Katy Perry took to social media, expressing her sadness at not being able to perform for her Guadalajara audience. “Unfortunately, I learned that the construction of the Guadalajara Arena will not be completed for your scheduled concerts next week, including mine on May 1 and 2,” the singer said in a story she posted a few hours ago on Instagram.

The “Firework” singer revealed that a week ago she sent her production team to review the progress of the arena’s construction. “When they arrived, it was clear the venue was neither ready nor safe to host my concert or the audience. I wish I could fix this, but it’s out of my control. You all mean so much to me, and we’ve shared such a beautiful journey together. I’ll be thinking about how I can create something special for the fans in Guadalajara in the future. I love you all,” the singer said sadly.

The CDMX and Monterrey concerts are still on.

It’s worth noting that Katy Perry has chosen Mexico as the kickoff for The Lifetimes Tour. The singer is expected to perform on April 23, 25, and 26 at the Arena CDMX. She will also travel to Monterrey, where she will perform at the Arena Monterrey on April 28 and 29. The singer was scheduled to close her tour in Mexico in Guadalajara; however, things won’t be that way.
