Regarding the trade negotiations between the governments of Mexico and the United States, President Claudia Sheinbaum asserted that politicians who have sought help abroad to resolve internal issues are “traitors.”

Leading the ceremony for the 111th Anniversary of the Defense of the Port of Veracruz, the federal president recalled the 1914 intervention by the United States in that state.

She said it was Venustiano Carranza who expressed the need to always prioritize dialogue.

Claudia Sheinbaum to Trump: Mexico is not afraid of cartels
“It must be kept in mind that if a politician relies on a foreign invasion, even a partial one, to achieve victory for his cause, he is failing in his duty to the country… as simple and profound as that, because I say it loud and clear, only traitors are in favor of seeking help abroad to resolve our country’s internal problems,” she stated.

The head of the Executive branch said that dialogue with the US government will continue in trade and security negotiations. She insisted that Mexico will provide support to prevent the passage of drugs into the United States through collaboration without subordination.

“In our case, the security strategy is underway and aims to protect and safeguard the security of Mexicans. I am confident that day by day, together we will build the peace and security we all yearn for. Until now, there has been a relationship of respect, and I am confident that this policy of good neighborliness will continue… I thank the armed forces, Admiral Reymundo Morales (Semar), and General Ricardo Trevilla (Sedena) for their loyalty. I thank everyone for their commitment to honor, duty, loyalty, and patriotism,” she stated.

In this vein, Claudia Sheinbaum emphasized that her government will uphold the principles of sovereignty and the interests of the people, given that “Mexico is not a protectorate or colony of any foreign country… we are a free and sovereign country.”
