The Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) is gearing up for its milestone 40th edition, set to take place from June 6 to 14, 2025. This year, Portugal has been chosen as the Guest of Honor, offering attendees a unique opportunity to explore the nation’s rich cinematic history and modern creations.

Estrella Araiza, General Director of FICG, highlighted the significance of this collaboration. “Portugal’s participation provides a magnificent opportunity to delve into its contemporary and historical film production, its industry, and its creators,” she stated.

Portugal’s presence will be showcased in various festival components, including the curation of film exhibitions, Pitch GDL, and FICGames. Renowned Portuguese works by directors such as Manoel de Oliveira, Miguel Gomes, João Canijo, Pedro Costa, and João Pedro Rodrigues are among the highlights.

Additional festival events include Doculab, focused on eco-production initiatives. While several projects have already been confirmed, the official film screening schedule for public audiences is yet to be announced.

This edition promises to spotlight the cultural and artistic contributions of Portugal while celebrating four decades of cinematic excellence through FICG.
