The more than 300,000 people who visited Querétaro during Holy Week generated an economic impact of 900 million pesos, reports the State Government’s Tourism Secretariat.
In a statement, it explains that, according to initial reports from the state’s Hotel and Tourism Associations, hotel occupancy in the state exceeded 50 percent.
In addition, reports from the capital city, as well as the 7 Magical Towns and the wine-producing region, reached hotel occupancy of 65 percent, especially on the nights of Good Friday and Holy Saturday.
According to the Tourism Secretariat, the most important religious activities took place in Querétaro’s Historic Center, such as the Procession of Silence and the Stations of the Cross reenactments in venues such as La Cañada and Tolimán.
In addition, the festivities in honor of the Virgin of Sorrows in the municipality of Colón attracted thousands of visitors who were able to participate in these traditions safely and peacefully for families.
The state agency states that Querétaro is one of the preferred destinations during this holiday season nationwide, along with destinations such as Nuevo Nayarit, Puerto Vallarta, Bahías de Huatulco, Monterrey, Mérida, among others.
