A coordinated effort by security forces has led to the dismantling of a notorious fraud ring operating in Quintana Roo, Mexico. Giovanni ‘N’, along with his father and brother, allegedly used fake government websites to sell supposed federal vehicles at drastically reduced prices, luring victims into handing over large sums of money.

According to reports, Giovanni ‘N’ was arrested during an operation in the state of Quintana Roo and subsequently transferred to the Chiconautla Prison in Ecatepec, Mexico State. A judge will now determine his legal status, pending further investigation.

The suspect’s cell phone revealed a disturbing pattern of behavior, showcasing images of himself boasting about the money obtained from the victims, as well as high-powered weapons allegedly used to carry out robberies in the State of Mexico.

The authorities’ crackdown on this fraud ring comes after former Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador exposed their modus operandi during a press conference. The president warned the public against falling prey to these scams, highlighting the growing trend of using fake online sites for illicit activities.

Giovanni ‘N’, along with his father and brother, Moisés and Julián, allegedly used websites emblazoned with federal government logos to advertise the supposed sale of vehicles at low prices. Once victims were hooked, they demanded payment, further victimizing them through robbery.

The suspect faces charges not only for fraud but also for robbery with aggravating factors in Ecatepec, Mexico State. Authorities continue to investigate the whereabouts of Moisés and Julián, who remain at large, to proceed with their arrests.
