We barely read the words “Credit Bureau” and we start to shudder. We immediately associate something negative with this credit reporting agency that records our history—yes, the debts we have with banking institutions, or even the positive history we have if we know how to manage our finances.
However, this time we have good news because this year, several debts will be erased from the Credit Bureau. So if you’re a customer of any of the banks we’ll mention later, you can sleep soundly again because by 2025, many of your debts will be completely erased.
Pay attention, because you’ll have to meet certain requirements to get your credit history back on track. If you do, we recommend managing your credit better so that the debts you have with banks either disappear or are much smaller than the ones that led to your registration with the Credit Bureau.
Which banks will have their debts erased from the Credit Bureau in 2025?
Regardless of the bank you operate in Mexico—BBVA, Banamex, Inbursa, Azteca, Banorte, BanRegio, BanBajío, Banjército, and others—your debts could disappear from the Credit Bureau in 2025 if they meet these criteria:
If the debts are less than or equal to 25 UDIS, they will be erased after one year.
If the debts are greater than 25 UDIS and up to 500 UDIS, they will be erased after two years.
If the debts are greater than 500 UDIS and up to 1,000 UDIS, they will be erased after four years.
If the debts are greater than 1,000 UDIS, they are eliminated after six years as long as they are less than 400,000 UDIS, the credit is not in judicial proceedings, and/or you have not committed any fraud with your credits.
Where can I find this information?
You can find the information directly on the Credit Bureau’s website: www.burodecredito.com.mx. Don’t be fooled, as there are various websites online posing as the Credit Bureau that promise to erase your debt in exchange for one or more payments, so you should be very careful when providing information. Remember that the Credit Bureau’s website is the only place where you can find information about your debts.
