Huatulco Bays strengthens its position in cruise tourism in Mexico

With the arrival of the Coral Princess and Eurodam cruise ships this Monday at the port of Santa Cruz Huatulco, the tourist destination reaffirms its position in the cruise tourism sector. So far this year, Bahías de Huatulco has welcomed a total of nine ships, generating a cumulative economic impact exceeding 19 million pesos.

During the day, the Bermuda-flagged Coral Princess arrived at 7:15 a.m. from Puerto Madero, Chiapas, bound for Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. There were 1,892 passengers and 888 crew members on board, generating an estimated economic impact of 2,466,368 pesos in the coastal region.

Hours later, at 11:00 a.m., the Dutch-flagged Eurodam arrived from Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala, also bound for Puerto Vallarta. This cruise ship carried 2,025 passengers and 832 crew members, generating an approximate revenue of 2,601,808 pesos.

The Oaxaca State Government reported that the arrival of these cruise ships adds to a series of successful operations throughout 2025, consolidating Bahías de Huatulco as one of the key destinations for international maritime tourism. To date, the nine cruise ships received have generated revenue of 19,599,819 pesos.

According to official data, between January and December 2024, Santa Cruz Huatulco ranked tenth in the country in cruise ship arrivals with 26 vessels, and eighth in passenger reception, with 48,401 people.

Cruise tourism not only positions Huatulco internationally but also boosts the local economy through spending in businesses, restaurants, and service providers. In addition, it contributes to job creation and strengthening regional development.
