Starting April 27, there will be partial lane closures on Bernardo Quintana, toward Paseo 5 de Febrero, due to the start of work to expand the sewer system near the HEB department store.
The municipality of Querétaro announced that the work will be carried out in two phases: the first from April 27 to May 17, and the second from May 19 to June 20, during daytime and nighttime hours. Therefore, there will be partial lane closures from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the day and from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. at night.
According to the municipality of Querétaro, alternate routes will be established to maintain traffic flow in the area, in response to the work being carried out on the road between the Mochomos restaurant and the access to Colinas del Parque. This is part of a series of conditions established by the State Water Commission (CEA) for the HEB department store to provide sanitary sewer service to the store.
Through a press release, the municipality explained that the work was not carried out at the time of the supermarket’s construction because the Paseo 5 de Febrero project was underway. Therefore, if it had been carried out at the same time, it would have caused a traffic jam with a greater impact on the city.
The work consists of expanding and replacing sanitary pipes with diameters of 30, 61, and up to 107 centimeters, as well as incorporating a temporary discharge pipe already operating into the existing collector, which is 95% silted and has areas with overflows.
The municipality of Querétaro assured that it will maintain ongoing monitoring of the project, even though it is not part of the municipal program and there is no public investment, emphasizing that the project will affect one of the capital’s busiest thoroughfares.
“The goal is to minimize inconvenience and ensure the safety of pedestrians and motorists. Clear conditions have been established for its execution, and direct communication is maintained with the responsible company; progress will depend on actual conditions in the field. The company submitted the corresponding commercial agreement, as well as the required bond to guarantee completion of the work,” the municipal administration stated.
