As of April 24, 2025, 19 women have been murdered in Sinaloa, according to the State Women’s Secretariat, which represents one homicide every six days.
According to its head, Ana Francis Chiquete Elizalde, 12 of the cases have been classified as femicides, while another seven are considered intentional homicides.
“So far this year, there have been 12 cases, unfortunately of femicide, and seven cases of intentional homicide. We have been in contact with the families in each case, offering services,” she said.
She emphasized that the agency maintains close attention and support for the victims’ families, who are sometimes minors, supporting them with financial assistance.
She also emphasized that they provide psychological support services to the families of the murdered women, as long as they are willing to receive assistance from the agency.
“So far, there have been four cases in which minors have applied for the financial support program. They are currently gathering the documentation. Some of them still need to enter school, so they are in the process of entering the program.
“In total, we had seven children who are already submitting the paperwork to enter, and in each case, we offer legal guidance and psychological support,” commented Chiquete Elizalde.
