The body of Hana Ali Rosales Sierra, a 19-year-old woman known for her participation in beauty pageants and her role as a councilor for Tourism, Culture, and Sports in the Huajuapan de León Youth Council, Oaxaca, was found dead in an abandoned house near the Mixteco River.

According to the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), the discovery occurred after an anonymous call alerted authorities. The victim showed signs of violence and multiple gunshot wounds, leading the Attorney General’s Office to confirm that this was a case of femicide.

According to initial reports, Hana Ali was deprived of her liberty on April 22, allegedly by a criminal group. Her disappearance has raised concerns in the community, especially given her active role in social and political projects.

The young woman, daughter of Alejandro Rosales Olmos, director of the Huajuapan de León Drinking Water System, had been recognized as “Miss Sympathy 2024” during her municipality’s Expofair.

Hana was a beauty queen.

Hana Ali’s murder has sparked outrage among various social sectors and feminist groups, who have announced mobilizations to demand justice.

According to the Oaxaca Prosecutor’s Office, investigations are underway to determine whether the crime could be related to alleged revenge, given the young woman’s active role in the Youth Council and her participation in community initiatives.

The feminist collective Marea Verde, present in the Mixteca region, reported that this case adds to the disappearance of five other young women so far this year. They also pointed out the lack of action on the part of local authorities, accusing the police and the Prosecutor’s Office of an insufficient response to arrest those responsible for crimes against women.

Hana Ali’s body was found in a home identified as a suspected safe house in the San Isidro Oriente neighborhood. According to initial reports, she suffered multiple injuries and gunshot wounds.

Although authorities have not yet revealed the official cause of death, forensic work is underway to clarify the facts.

The president of the Huajuapan de León Youth Council, Alexander Osorio, expressed his dismay at the murder of his classmate and friend. On social media, Osorio highlighted Hana Ali’s qualities, describing her as a young woman with a promising future and an ally in community projects. He also called on authorities to ensure that this crime does not go unpunished.
