The president of the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Hotel Association, Luis Castañeda Muñoz, reported that they are in advanced discussions with Aeroméxico to establish a direct flight connection between the destination and New York City.
He explained that the airline is currently analyzing its schedule, fleet availability, and the feasibility of the project, which will also depend on the collaborative work with the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), the State Tourism Secretariat, and the municipal government.
Castañeda commented that last week they visited New York at an event organized by Price Travel, where they met more than 300 travel agents, who expressed great interest in promoting Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo to their clients.
He clarified that it has not yet been determined whether this flight will be permanent or only seasonal, but he is confident it will materialize this year, as demand and interest in the destination are increasing, and a direct flight would generate significant economic benefits.
