As part of the 2025 Mexico Tourism Fair, the State Tourism Secretariat (Sectur Oaxaca) announced that, starting December 3, the Dallas-Puerto Escondido flight will begin operating with American Airlines.

In front of buyers and the media, the head of the state agency, Saymi Pineda Velasco, emphasized that this flight will make nearly 8,000 new seats available annually for international tourism in 2026, contributing to strengthening the tourist flow and economic impact for this destination in the coastal region.

“With great enthusiasm, we announce the start of operations of a new international route that will strengthen our state’s global reach,” the official stated to the General Director of Mexican Airports (AME), Javier García Bejos.

Pineda Velasco explained that this flight will have two weekly flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays, making Puerto Escondido the 30th American Airlines destination in Mexico. This is thanks to the modernization of the destination’s airport terminal, which is beginning to bear fruit and expand the horizon of opportunities for all productive sectors in the region.

He celebrated the fact that this beach destination is increasingly receiving increased air connections, especially with the most important tourist market for Mexico and Oaxaca. Therefore, improved results are expected from the intensive promotion carried out in domestic and international markets.

He stated that thanks to the tourism policy promoted by Governor Salomón Jara Cruz to generate greater well-being for the population and improve the state’s economic development, Oaxaca has become one of the most important destinations.

“This year we welcome a new era for Puerto Escondido. One of greater connection, visibility, and opportunities for our people. Congratulations on this partnership with American Airlines,” concluded Pineda Velasco.
