In an effort to attract more visitors, destinations in southern Mexico’s Caribbean coast are joining the national “Great Escape” campaign, aiming to reinvigorate and revitalize tourism to the area.
The campaign, promoted by the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (Concanaco), in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) and the State of Quintana Roo’s Ministry of Tourism (Sedetur), aims to provide special promotions and discounts during “El Buen Fin del Turismo 2025” (The Good End of Tourism 2025).
According to Amir Padilla Espadas, president of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (Canaco Servytur) Chetumal-Tulum, the initiative represents a valuable opportunity for tourism service providers in the area. “The Great Escape” will take place from May 30 to June 1, 2025, offering tourists a chance to explore the region’s attractions while boosting local economic activity.
Padilla Espadas noted that the goal of the campaign is to achieve up to 90% occupancy during peak and off-peak seasons, promoting domestic tourism and local economic recovery. Additionally, the initiative aims to strengthen ties between destinations in the state, encourage local consumption, and boost the tourism sector through strategic alliances.
To participate in “The Great Escape,” tourism service providers can register for free at www.lagranescapada.com.mx, which is open to all establishments in the Mexican Caribbean.
The campaign’s benefits extend beyond the participating businesses, as it also aims to promote local consumption, stimulate economic growth, and foster a stronger connection between destinations in southern Quintana Roo.
