Construction of the access road to the Port of Veracruz will begin on June 23rd by the Federal Government. It will be a completely new access road, 1.5 kilometers long, and will be under construction over three years, meaning it should be completed by 2028.
This was announced by the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation, Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, during this Wednesday’s morning press conference at the National Palace. He added that it is part of the national highway and infrastructure plan.
The access road to the Port of Veracruz will continue until 2028.
He noted that the project is already in the bidding process; however, before beginning the process, modifications had to be made and the final configuration of the bridges involved had to be defined to ensure their proper functioning.
“It was the first time that models were made to make decisions about how the bridges would look and thus ensure their proper functioning,” he explained.
The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation affirmed that the modifications ensure the proper functioning of this project and extend the service levels it will offer.
Community Roads in Veracruz
Another project the Federal Government will undertake is the construction of small-scale roads in coordination with the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples (INPI). This program will be implemented in several states across the country, where Veracruz is considered. 65 million pesos will be allocated for the construction of 10 kilometers of community roads.
He added that road sections in Veracruz are also being served through the “Bachetón” program, the first phase of which has already been completed.
Access work to the Port of Veracruz will continue until 2028.
Esteva Medina stated that Veracruz will be one of the first states to receive paving trains as part of strengthening road maintenance processes.
In his presentation during the “Mañanera del Pueblo” (People’s Morning Press Conference), the official did not mention the municipality of Boca del Río, where residents have requested the construction of another bridge to connect the Veracruz Riviera area with the municipal seat of this municipality.
Regarding the rehabilitation of the Dovalí vehicular bridge, a cable-stayed bridge located on the Cosoleacaque-Nuevo Teapa highway, he revealed that it is 12% complete and is expected to be completed by December 2025.
