Two municipal police officers were shot dead and four civilians were injured in an attack on a taco shop Wednesday night in the Pradera Dorada 6 neighborhood.
Initial reports indicate that an armed group arrived in the area and opened fire with assault rifles on the business, where the preventive officers were eating.
Two members of the Mazatlán SSPM were killed, while four civilians were injured. They were treated by other officers who arrived at the scene and transported them to a hospital for medical evaluation.
Navy personnel arrived at the area and mounted an operation to locate the armed civilians who carried out the attack, but they were not located.
Forensic Services personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office gathered evidence and ordered the transfer of the bodies to the Forensic Medical Service.
Violence in Mazatlán, especially in the rural areas, has increased, as occurred last weekend.
On Tuesday, the Security and Peacebuilding Roundtable was held, where these events were analyzed to discuss the strengthening of the strategies implemented by the three levels of the port.
