More than 6,121,000 foreign tourists will enter Mexico by air in the first quarter of 2025; 3.5% more than in 2024.

Mexican Secretary of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora announced that during the first quarter of this year, 6,121,000 foreign tourists arrived in Mexico by air, according to their residence.

She commented that, based on data from the Immigration Policy, Registration, and Identity Unit of the Ministry of the Interior, this represents a 3.5 percent increase compared to 2024 and 16.6 percent more than in 2019, when 5,249,000 tourists arrived.

The trend among the main countries where foreign tourists arriving by air to Mexico in the first quarter of 2025 continues to be the United States, Canada, and Argentina, which totaled 5,188,000 tourists, 7.4 percent more than in 2024, which exceeds by 28.6 percent the 4,036,000 tourists who arrived in 2019, indicated Rodríguez Zamora.

In this regard, he mentioned that, from January to March 2025, arrivals by air of U.S. residents amounted to 3,858,000 tourists, which is 5.1 percent more than the same period in 2024, in addition to representing a 34.9 percent increase over the 2019 arrivals, which totaled 2,589,000 tourists.

She also reported that air arrivals to Mexico of tourists residing in Canada reached 1,215,000 tourists, 13 percent higher than in 2024. This figure represents a 15.3 percent increase over the 1,054,000 tourists registered in 2019.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) noted that the above figures confirm the importance of the economic relationship between Mexico, the United States, and Canada, as well as the need to strengthen, maintain, and strengthen tourism ties in the North American region.

She recalled that, with the goal of continuing to work together to promote Mexico in the United States, the cultural, artistic, artisanal, and gastronomic event, “A Window to Mexico in San Diego,” was successfully held at Liberty Station as part of the 2025 Tourism Tianguis.

He also invited everyone to visit the first tourist office at the Mexican Consulate General in San Diego, where a sample of the richness of the state of Oaxaca is on display and information is provided to Californians about the vast array of transportation, travel, lodging, restaurants, and other national products and services.

Finally, he revealed that 114,719 residents from Argentina arrived, a 32.5 percent increase compared to 2024, when 86,586 tourists were recorded.
