The construction of the Chapala-Guadalajara replacement aqueduct will involve an investment of approximately 7 billion pesos, commented State Secretary of Finance Luis García Sotelo. He emphasized that they expect a contribution from the Federal Government, via the National Infrastructure Fund, although this has not yet been finalized.
“From Chapala to Guadalajara, it’s in the order of 7 billion; that will have federal support. We are currently in very clear processes of approaching the Federal Government, with our governor presenting the projects that Jalisco needs. What this means is that we are looking for ways to approach Fonadin (National Development Fund), to approach them about participating in conversion projects with the Federation,” he explained.
The bidding process for the preparation of the executive project for the construction of the Chapala-Guadalajara Replacement Aqueduct infrastructure is underway. The decision will be issued on May 23. The current aqueduct is 34 years old and transports approximately 60% of the city’s water supply.
The secretary added that 23 billion pesos have been earmarked for public works this year, across various projects and projects at the state level.
