Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar and her husband, Carlos Torres, reported that the United States has revoked their non-immigrant visas.

On social media, Marina del Pilar indicated that the consular measure was first applied to her husband and that she later received a similar notification.

“I am sure and fully trust that the situation will be clarified satisfactorily for both of us. I say this with absolute clarity: Carlos has always acted with integrity, dedication, and a deep commitment to Baja California,” the governor wrote on social media.

For his part, Carlos Torres stated that he has consulted a specialist in international immigration law to evaluate the filing of a motion regarding this decision, which falls under provisions of the United States Department of State.

“Currently, the application of these administrative criteria has become increasingly common, and like so many others, I am included in that universe. This procedure does not represent an accusation, investigation, or formal accusation by any authority, neither in Mexico nor in the United States,” he stated.

He also lamented that the situation also affected his wife, the governor of Baja California, and said he would also analyze whether to start a new visa application.

“I deeply regret that this situation has had consequences for my wife, Marina del Pilar, who—despite not having caused anything—has faced it with serenity, firmness, and without ever losing the empathy that defines her,” he stated.

Marina del Pilar emphasized that the situation is taking place “in a complex binational context that requires composure and sanity from me.”

“My support for him is not only personal, it is moral and political. Because I know who he is and because he has never failed to stand up and take responsibility for what is not his responsibility,” he wrote.
