Despite uncertainty surrounding US immigration policies, Yucatán has maintained a positive trend in remittance receipts during the first quarter of this year, with nearly $108 million sent from the United States.

According to data released by the Bank of Mexico, the state recorded a 3.1 percent increase in remittance receipts compared to the same period last year, reaching $107.8 million in the first three months of 2025. This uptick is notable given the country’s economic slowdown and the current international economic outlook.

Yucatán continues to be one of the top national recipients of remittances, with Mérida, Oxkutzcab, Tekax, Ticul, and Peto being the top five municipalities receiving these funds.

Last year, Yucatán closed with historic figures in remittances, reporting a total of $454 million. This represents a 4.3 percent increase compared to the previous year’s figure of $434 million, indicating a growing trend of foreign exchange inflow into the state.

The resilience of Yucatán’s remittance flow is a testament to the strong economic ties between Mexico and its diaspora community in the United States. As international economic conditions continue to evolve, it remains to be seen whether this positive trend will persist throughout 2025.
