The Mexican government has set its sights on reviving tourism in Mazatlán, with the country’s Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Ramírez Zamora, highlighting the city’s pivotal role in the nation’s tourism strategy.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Mexi Log Fest, held at the port city, Ramírez Zamora emphasized that Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo is committed to promoting Mazatlán through events like this. The Secretary also announced that the president has identified emerging markets as a key area of focus for Mexico’s tourism industry.
With Mazatlán serving as an international spearhead, alongside Canada, Ramírez Zamora stated that the city will be instrumental in tapping into new markets. She noted that President Sheinbaum Pardo will announce the country’s plans to explore emerging markets tomorrow.
Tourism figures in Mazatlán have shown promise, with a peak attendance of 90% recorded during Easter week and Carnival in March. The city’s infrastructure is also being enhanced through the development of magical routes featuring community experiences, which aim to diversify tourism offerings.
In addition to these initiatives, Ramírez Zamora emphasized that connectivity is a major priority for Mexico. At the Tianguis Turístico, Sinaloa participated, and for the first time, 45 new international and national routes will be available nationwide. Two new routes have also been announced for Los Mochis, La Paz, and Chihuahua.
Mazatlán is poised to benefit from these developments, with an international flight being negotiated and set to be announced next month. The Mexican government is also working closely with Colombia and Brazil to facilitate digital visa issuance, ensuring that tourists can easily travel between countries.
President Sheinbaum Pardo has identified the Chinese market as one of Mexico’s source markets for future exploration. With Mazatlán serving as a key player in this initiative, the city is set to play an increasingly important role in Mexico’s tourism industry.
