In a move to revitalize public spaces and foster community spirit, the long-awaited Xiimbal Park was inaugurated in the city’s Superblock 249 neighborhood.

Located on a donated plot of land measuring 3,923.5 square meters, the park offers residents a multipurpose court, playground, gardens, tables, jogging track, and tarpaulin for outdoor activities. The joint effort between government authorities and developer Ruba aims to provide a safe and vibrant space for the over 10,600 residents of the Privadas Sacbé subdivision.

According to Governor Mara Lezama, the park’s name, “Xiimbal,” which translates to promenade or walkway, reflects the community’s desire for a public area where social bonds can be strengthened. Lezama emphasized that she hopes the park will become a hub for recreation and socialization among children, youth, and adults.

The Xiimbal Park is part of the state’s “All for Peace” strategy, designed to utilize public spaces as catalysts for rebuilding community relationships and promoting peace. Residents, local authorities, and developers collaborated on the project, which began three months ago with the creation of a mural titled “Hands for Peace.”

During the inauguration ceremony, Lezama urged residents to make use of the park and avoid leaving it abandoned, warning that neglect could lead to harm. She was joined by other officials, including Mayor Ana Patricia Peralta, who highlighted the park’s role in fostering unity among residents.

Developer Ruba, whose plaza director Alberto Barriba Cazares attended the event, reaffirmed its commitment to promoting quality of life through comprehensive developments. The company views the Xiimbal Park as a key component in achieving this mission.

The Xiimbal Park inauguration was attended by various dignitaries, including Verónica Lezama, honorary president of the state DIF; Pablo Gutiérrez Fernández, secretary general of the City Council; and Jorge Barajas, president of the Privada Sacbé neighborhood committee.
