The president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (Canirac) Durango, Adriana Porras Zubiría, explained that this measure implies losses for the sector and even causes restaurant closures.
“On this occasion, we still do not have official approval from the gazette. Canirac’s request is that restaurants continue to be allowed to operate their establishments normally. We do not see that the Prohibition Law or the prohibition of alcohol sales will reduce consumption. It is definitely not the right strategy,” she indicated.
She noted that it is no longer being applied in several states. “These are studies that have been conducted since the pandemic, and with the trends seen in other states, we have managed to avoid Prohibition during the election period, and the results have been good,” she indicated.
In addition, the goal is to encourage sales to be made in formal businesses. “When does excess occur? Well, when there’s panic buying in advance, because there’s too much alcohol, and you already have it there,” he added.
