In Tehuacán, Puebla, a pair of men beat a 22-year-old young man named Misael. Do you know why? For selling fruit in front of his business. First, they demanded, or rather, threatened him to leave his stall ‘by fair means or foul.’ When he didn’t leave, they beat him unconscious.

But things didn’t end there. During the night of Wednesday, May 21, local residents attempted to lynch the two men; however, the police officer managed to stop the attack.

Young man beaten for selling fruit in Puebla

The young man decided to park his fruit stand; the ‘problem’ is that he did so in front of a car repair shop. The owner, Julio, accompanied by his son, Jerson, and another woman, went out to demand that he leave. In the video that went viral on social media, you can hear them saying: “Get your things out of here, by fair means or foul.”

And when the young man didn’t leave, the two men began beating him. The woman tried to stop them, but they only stopped beating him until they left him unconscious on the ground.

According to testimonies from local residents, the business owners had previously had problems with other vendors.

Misael, who is responsible for supporting his family while his father is hospitalized, was accompanied by the Director of Government of Tehuacán, Ernesto Vélez, to file a complaint and follow up on the investigation.

“We strongly condemn the acts of violence that occurred in Tehuacán, in which a young worker was cowardly and unjustifiably attacked by individuals on a public street. From the first moment, the competent authorities acted promptly, leading to the arrest of those responsible during the early hours of this same day.” Government of Puebla.

They Attempt to Lynch the Men Who Beat Misael

During Wednesday night, a group of people attempted to take justice into their own hands and set fire to Mr. Julio’s auto parts store. Meanwhile, another group went to his home to throw rocks and attempt to lynch him.

Municipal police had to intervene to prevent them from being attacked, but they managed to get a man out and secure him in a patrol car.

For now, the two men who beat Misael are prohibited from approaching him or his family.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this type of case. Recently, the case of another man who chased a worker away for eating on the sidewalk, claiming he was blocking his entrance, also went viral.
