In Vallarta, hundreds of children attend classes in extreme conditions.

More than 650 students at the Constitución (morning shift) and Benito Juárez (afternoon) elementary schools in the El Mangal neighborhood are attending classes in extremely hot conditions, as the school lacks fans and air conditioning.
Parents took to social media to denounce the situation at the school. The school was under reconstruction since the middle of last year and was completed and handed over last January, but many things were left unfinished. “We found ourselves with unfit facilities, lacking the necessary or basic elements for our children to attend,” the parents say. With the high temperatures recorded in recent days, it has been very difficult for the children to attend classes.

“Without having fans and not being able to use the air conditioning (due to deficiencies in the electrical system), our children cannot withstand the high temperatures, and some have even suffered heat stroke,” they say.

Faced with this situation, they have gone to the principal of the morning shift at the Constitución Elementary School, Héctor Ibáñez, who is the head of the school, and he has not resolved anything and has even treated the parents in a despotic and sarcastic manner.

They have also gone to the Regional Delegation of Educational Services (DRSE), where they were told that “that’s for the principal to handle,” which is why the children continue to attend classes cut short in the morning and afternoon, as the high temperatures are very difficult to endure.

For this reason, this Thursday at 2:00 p.m., they will demonstrate at the school to demand that they be taken into account and that a prompt solution be found to this problem. The children are attending classes halfway, which is delaying their education. Above all, they demand that they cannot continue to be in these conditions, which they consider inhumane.
