Tragedy in Bucerías! Woman dies after being hit by an ATV with her son

A tragic accident occurred early Monday morning at the Flamingos shopping center intersection in Bucerías, Bahía de Banderas municipality.

An 80-year-old woman died and a child was injured after being violently struck by a vehicle of unknown characteristics while riding an ATV.

According to initial reports, the woman and her son were traveling north to south on Riviera Nayarit Boulevard when they were struck by the vehicle.

Both were thrown onto the pavement, with the woman receiving the greatest impact and dying almost instantly.

The driver, a young man who was intoxicated, was running red lights and, failing to run the light, hit the vehicle as it was stopped.

The driver fled, towing the smaller vehicle to Mezcales, where he was finally arrested by the Municipal Police.

Civil Protection paramedics from Bahía de Banderas arrived at the scene, covered the woman’s body, and transported the teenager to the Tondoroque hospital for medical attention.

Members of the Criminal Investigation Agency arrived at the scene to gather evidence and begin investigations to clarify the events.

The body was finally transported by Forensic Medical Service personnel to their facilities, where the corresponding legal procedures will be carried out.
