A serious accident involving two semi-trucks was reported at kilometer 137 of the Puebla-Orizaba Highway, near the Amozoc-Acatzingo section, heading toward Acatzingo. Traffic was disrupted for at least five hours, causing long lines and slow traffic for several kilometers. The incident occurred on the morning of Friday, May 30, 2025.

According to the heavy transport union (AMOTAC), there are two versions of what may have caused the collision. The first indicates that one of the drivers made a sudden maneuver to avoid being robbed, after a pickup truck was allegedly blocked by armed men. While trying to avoid the truck, the semi-truck lost control, and another truck following behind failed to brake, colliding with the other vehicle.

The second version suggests a possible brake failure on one of the semi-trucks, causing it to crash into the other vehicle’s dry van.

The vehicles involved were a full-size trailer and a tractor-trailer. Fortunately, both drivers were unharmed. There are also reports of a third truck that suffered minor injuries and was able to continue its journey.

CAPUFE paramedics from the Amozoc and Acatzingo sectors arrived at the scene to assist the drivers of the trailers involved in the accident on the highway. The accident occurred around 8:00 a.m., and the maneuvers to remove the vehicles concluded around 1:30 p.m.

Members of the National Guard’s Highway Division were informed of the incident. Caution is recommended in the area due to current traffic.
