A swift and coordinated police response brought seven alleged hitmen to justice after a 911 call alerted authorities to their presence at a hotel in Playa del Carmen.

The drama unfolded around 9:00 a.m. in the Ejido neighborhood, where guests and residents reported seeing armed men with long guns moving around the Yukon Hotel and surrounding streets. A black Jeep was spotted leaving the premises, prompting a police chase that lasted several blocks.

Municipal Police officers swiftly mobilized to the scene, blocking the suspects’ path as they attempted to flee in their vehicle. Upon searching the SUV, authorities discovered firearms inside.

Meanwhile, three additional men were arrested at the Yukon Hotel. The operation also yielded two more SUVs, a Ford and a Sprinter, which were seized by police. Curiously, one of the vehicles was labeled “Iglesia Viva Altamira,” sparking questions about its possible connection to other crimes in the region.

The seven alleged hitmen, most of them from Tamaulipas, have been handed over to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) for further investigation. The seized firearms and vehicles have been taken into custody, with the latter being stored at the municipal impound lot.

Authorities are now working to determine whether these individuals were involved in other crimes in Playa del Carmen or elsewhere in the region. As investigations continue, residents can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that law enforcement is actively working to keep their community safe.
