In Tabasco, residents of Villa Tamulté de las Sabanas have been blocking the Villahermosa-Frontera federal highway for nearly 24 hours to denounce the lack of electricity in their homes and demand the construction of an electrical substation in their community.
They set up camp on the highway
The protesters stated that they will not leave the highway until the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) begins construction of the electrical substation and restores power to their homes; the protesters even set up a makeshift camp on the highway.
It should be noted that the blockade is causing severe traffic chaos, as hundreds of trailers and drivers remain stranded on both sides of the highway.
It is important to note that the Villahermosa-Frontera federal highway connects the state of Tabasco with Campeche and Yucatán, which is why the lines of stranded vehicles stretch for almost 5 kilometers on both sides of the road.
The residents even moved an improvised cannon to the blockade area and threatened to use it if the authorities tried to forcibly evict them.
