In a major crackdown, Mexican authorities have arrested three top members of the “Los Compich” criminal cell, an affiliate of the notorious “Los Chapitos” faction of the Sinaloa Cartel. The arrests took place in Tulum, Quintana Roo, and are part of a broader effort to dismantle the group’s operations in the region.

According to official sources and local media reports, the detainees include José Benjamín Hau Herrera, alias “El Cuervo,” who is believed to be the regional leader of the group’s activities in Tulum. Also apprehended were Fernando “N” aka “El Gavilán,” and Carlos Manuel “N” aka “El Barni.”

The arrests are seen as a significant blow to the Sinaloa Cartel, which has been linked to various forms of organized crime, including drug trafficking and extortion. The authorities seized nine firearms, 49 magazines, a grenade, two ballistic helmets, eight tactical vests, and four kilograms of marijuana during the operation.

The joint statement issued by Mexican authorities praised the collaboration between law enforcement agencies, including the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), Secretariats of Security and Citizen Protection, National Defense, Navy, National Guard, and State Police. The statement emphasized that these efforts have resulted in nearly 3,500 arrests, including high-profile figures wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The operation is part of a broader strategy aimed at weakening the grip of organized crime on Mexican society. The move has been welcomed as a significant step forward in the fight against drug trafficking and other forms of organized crime.
