A US citizen with an outstanding arrest warrant for fraud in Florida has been arrested in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. The individual was taken into custody by authorities in the community of Quiriceo de Valle de Santiago as a result of a joint operation between the State Secretariat of Security and Peace and the National Migration Institute (INM).
According to official reports, the arrest occurred on 5 de Mayo Street, where state agents and immigration officials located the foreigner. The operation was made possible thanks to intelligence work by the Field Investigation Commission, attached to the Undersecretariat of Operational Intelligence.
The authorities stated that the intervention was part of ongoing efforts to address the presence of foreigners in Mexico with irregular immigration status. During the arrest, the individual was notified of his immigration status and informed of the initiation of deportation proceedings under Mexican law.
After being detained, the US citizen was transferred to the facilities of the National Immigration Institute, where arrangements will be made for his return to the United States. The incident highlights ongoing cooperation between Mexican authorities and international partners in addressing transnational crime and ensuring public safety.
