Operations will begin in municipal markets in the coming days, according to the head of the State Public Security Secretariat, Francisco Sánchez González, who acknowledged that drug dealing remains prevalent in the capital of Puebla.

The state official warned that, following the confrontation at the Los Lavaderos market, a random operation was planned for these markets, which will begin shortly; however, he declined to provide details.

Priority: Preventing Drug Sales

He also stated that there is close coordination with the Puebla Municipal Public Security Secretariat (SSC), and therefore, priority is given to combating the sale of illicit substances, as this issue has been ongoing for years.

“The drug dealing problem is a long-standing one in the City. It focuses on many points where we already have them located. (…) We have excellent communication with Colonel Félix Pallares. I saw him at the security desk. We worked with them this weekend, during the two events, the thieves,” he stated.

Another crime that also continues to occur in the City of Puebla is drag racing, which is more prevalent on the various boulevards, where they are already being monitored.

“It’s not so much about arresting these people, but rather preventing accidents, because normally drag racing results in accidents, loss of life, collateral damage. What we don’t want is for there to be accidents,” he mentioned.
