Representatives of the 25th Legislature of the Baja California Congress issued a statement expressing their support for Mexican and Latin American migrants affected by raids and operations in the state of California, United States.
In the document, signed by members of the parliamentary factions of Morena, the Green Party, the Socialist Workers’ Party (PES), the Citizen Movement, and the Independents, the representatives noted that these actions have caused the separation of families who have resided in the United States for decades and contributed to its economic development.
The legislators emphasized that, due to its geographic proximity, Baja California maintains a close economic and cultural relationship with the state of California, which has generated benefits for both regions. In this context, they recalled that Baja California is a state historically linked to migration.
In their statement, they called for the actions of the U.S. government to adhere to respect for the human rights of migrants. They reiterated their support for the position of the Mexican federal government, led by President Claudia Sheinbaum, to address the issue with responsibility, cooperation, and sensitivity.
The Baja California Congress stated that it will continue working on initiatives that benefit the Mexican population both at home and abroad, reaffirming that migrants will always have a place in the state.
The statement was signed by the president of the Board of Directors, Michelle Alejandra Tejeda Medina, and the president of the Political Coordination Board, Juan Manuel Molina García, as well as other representatives of the 25th Legislature.
