As a prelude to the start of the International Ephemeral Art Fair and the 2025 Dalia, the Municipal Government headed by Salvador Santos Cedillo invites groups, institutions, and communities to participate in the traditional 2025 Dalia Parade. This year, the Marching Band Competition will feature prizes ranging from 70,000, 50,000, and 30,000 pesos for the first three places.
Through the Municipal System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family (SMDIF), the municipal administration promotes this colorful activity that fosters artistic, cultural, and family participation, as well as positioning Huamantla as a national and international benchmark for organizing events with identity.
Registration will be open until August 5th at the Huamantla Municipal DIF System facilities, located at Fernando Hernández Carrasco 101, Colonia Centro.
Interested parties must submit: a registration form (provided by the SMDIF), a copy of the representative’s INE (National Institute of Statistics and Census), and a signed letter of commitment. All participants must respect the central theme: flowers and dahlias, elements that give identity to this celebration.
Participation categories include:
· Themed floats
· Folk dance groups
· Marching bands
· Musical groups with a repertoire appropriate to the family and cultural context
· Traditional troupes
· Schools or institutions with cultural representation
· Mojigangas and traditional characters
· Neighborhoods and communities of Huamantla
· Cultural representations from other municipalities or states
Floats participating in the Dahlias Parade must have a clear cultural theme. Therefore, decorated private vehicles without a defined theme will not be permitted. Only towed platforms or decorated trucks, large enough to easily navigate narrow streets, will be accepted.
The decoration must feature flowers as its main element, and each participating group must have at least 20 members, a dedicated audio system in an auxiliary vehicle (with a maximum of two occupants), a performance with a floral or cultural theme, and a designated representative from the group.
In the specific case of the Marching Band competition, the jury will evaluate aspects such as musicality, coordination, costumes, stage presence, and creativity. The decision will be final.
In this way, the Municipal Government of Huamantla works to strengthen the social and cultural fabric by fostering artistic talent and promoting the most notable traditions of this Magical Town.
