Through social media, the Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) released a series of recommendations issued by the Banking and Industrial Police to protect our furry friends during this time of year.
How can I take care of my pet during the rainy season in Mexico?
Authorities recommend, above all, taking them for a walk before it starts to rain, as this will prevent them from getting wet or cold. Exposure to cold water can cause respiratory infections or skin problems, so if the sky starts to cloud over, it’s best to plan ahead.
We also recommend avoiding puddles and flooded areas, as these can contain bacteria, chemicals, and even sharp objects. Exposed wires also pose a risk of electric shock.
During rainy weather, dogs are often frightened by thunder, lightning, or lightning, which can cause them to run away. Therefore, it’s important to wear a tag with their name and contact number. If possible, put a collar with a GPS tracker on them.
Drying Your Dog Thoroughly Prevents Illness
Another useful tip is to use a raincoat or special dog coat, as keeping them dry reduces the risk of illness. There are a variety of options on the market to suit every budget and size of your pet.
And when you return home, dry them thoroughly. From their paws to their entire coat, especially if they are a small or long-haired breed, drying them helps prevent fungus, slips, and general discomfort.
