Landslides were the cause of the rains reported in recent hours in the Sierra region of Hidalgo.
One of the most significant occurred on the Mexico-Tampico highway near the municipality of Tlanchinol.
According to reports, heavy rains caused a massive landslide of rocks and mud, resulting in the complete closure of the Mexico-Tampico federal highway.
The debris impeded traffic in both lanes near “La Virgencita.” Local and state authorities responded to the area with heavy machinery to move the material and reopen traffic.
The highway was finally cleared, allowing vehicular traffic to resume.
According to Conagua, in Hidalgo, cloudy skies will continue for most of the day, with the likelihood of heavy rain and fog.
