Police authorities in Nuevo León found the truck of a Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) nurse in the municipality of Cerralvo. The nurse disappeared last weekend while traveling on the Monterrey-Reynosa Highway.

The white Nissan Rouge was located on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 18, in a lonely dirt road, with an unspecified location. It wasn’t until the morning of Thursday, June 19, that the discovery was revealed.

However, the whereabouts of the healthcare professional, Pedro Antonio Lorenzo Martínez, 48, who works at Social Security Clinic 270 in the city of Reynosa, where he also lives, are currently unknown.

He disappeared on the evening of Sunday, June 15, while traveling in his truck toward the border after visiting acquaintances in Cadereyta.

It is believed that an armed group deprived him of his liberty near the municipality of Los Ramones, as happened that same night with nine other people traveling on that road: five musicians and their driver, as well as three women traveling in a car.

Except for the nurse, the six men were released by the criminals on Tuesday morning, although the women remain missing, and their car was found abandoned outside a convenience store at kilometer 64 of the freeway in Los Ramones.

In Reynosa, colleagues of the IMSS nurse have held blockades and protests in public places, hoping authorities can work to locate him as quickly as possible.

The case of the missing nurse was briefly addressed by the Attorney General of Nuevo León, Javier Flores, during a media interview on Wednesday, June 18, in which he was also questioned about the disappearance and location of the musical group “Los Juniors de Monterrey.”

“There are reports of other missing persons, in different incidents. Three women were traveling from Reynosa and went to San Bartolo-Cadereyta. On their way back to their city, they were deprived of their liberty. Another case is that of a nurse in Cadereyta who also suffered the same consequences on his way back to his city,” he stated.

The family has already filed a complaint with the Nuevo León Attorney General’s Office. Authorities are asking the public for any information that may help locate him.
