Mexico is a seismic territory, so earthquakes of varying intensities are constantly recorded, which can even activate the Mexican Seismic Alert System (Sasmex).
The National Seismological Service (SSN) reports tremors recorded in Mexico, regardless of intensity, as part of a monitoring program designed to inform about seismic activity.
Earthquakes are detected through a network of stations distributed throughout the country; however, they are primarily located on the coasts of the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, and the neovolcanic axis.
