Traffic accidents continue unabated in Hermosillo, with 16 fatalities so far in 2025.

A woman was killed and a man was injured in an accident on Highway 26, bringing the total to sixteen traffic fatalities so far this year in Hermosillo, according to figures from the Department of Traffic; twelve of them in urban areas and four in rural areas.

A head-on collision between two vehicles on Highway 26 left one woman dead and one man injured.

According to a Municipal Police report, the accident occurred yesterday at approximately 7:30 a.m. The vehicles involved were a silver Honda Civic and a blue Renault Kwid sedan.

According to official sources, the woman who died was named Norma Guadalupe Tarazón Dórame, 27 years old. Family members expressed their condolences on social media, while the injured man was identified as Carlos Carlón.

The collision between the two cars occurred when one of the drivers crossed into the opposite lane at kilometer 5.5 of Highway 26, the report states, on a road that lacks a shoulder.

Francisco Ramírez Ibarra, deputy chief of the Fire Department, indicated that they first received reports of people trapped after being involved in the collision.

When they arrived, there was still one person inside, a woman. They proceeded to extract this person with the support of the Red Cross and provided first aid there, but unfortunately, she died,” he said.

Both cars were destroyed from the front and remained outside the asphalt.

The driver of the silver Honda sedan suffered injuries and was taken for medical attention in a Red Cross ambulance.

This accident occurred on the curve in front of the old landfill located on Highway 26.
